Selfish Ambition

Galatians 5:19-20 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: . . . selfish ambition, dissensions, factions . . .

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

James 3:14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

James 3:16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

Philippians 2:4-8 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.

1 Peter 5:5  . . . all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another

Remember also that the first sin was to try to become like gods/God (Genesis 3:5).
