It is written in the first person (I/me) so that as you can read, you can apply it directly to yourself.

* Scripture is filled with promises to everyone who in faith commits his or her life to Jesus. I refuse to dishonor God by implying that he lied. Because he has made this promise to everyone, I am included.

The Bible is filled with promises of salvation to everyone

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.

Romans 3:22-24 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction, for all have sinned . . . being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus . . .

Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

John 3:14-18 . . . even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Isaiah 45:22 Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

John 3:17 For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

John 1:29 The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

1 John 2:2 And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

1 John 4:14 We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.

2 Corinthians 5:19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.

I make that choice right now. I choose to regard my works (irrespective of whether they seem good or bad) as powerless to determine my fate. I believe that Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection on my behalf – and that alone – determines my spiritual destiny. I place my faith solely in Jesus and not in my efforts. Therefore, according to the promise of Almighty God, the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin. The magnitude of my unworthiness and the grossness of my depravity is swallowed up by Jesus’ power to save and his worthiness.

Salvation is by faith (in Jesus’ ability to secure my forgiveness) not by works

Ephesians 2:8-9 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.

Romans 1:17 For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”

Romans 3:28 We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Romans 9:30-32 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness. Why? Because they didn’t seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;

Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace.

2 Timothy 1:9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy. . . .

John 6:28-29 They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

Romans 4:4-5 Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as something owed. But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

Philippians 3:4-9  . . . though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has confidence in the flesh, I yet more . . . concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. However, I consider those things that were gain to me as a loss for Christ. Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be a loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Galatians 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.

Galatians 3:11 Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”

I am not the person who sinned

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

Ephesians 4:24 . . . put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”

* God says in his Word that my sins are pardoned, forgiven, not remembered, wiped out, swept away, taken away, removed as far as the east is from the west (an infinite distance), trampled on (destroyed) and hurled into the depths of the sea, unable to be found, blotted out, cleansed, washed, made as white as snow.

Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. . . .”

Isaiah 43:18 Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 65:17 . . . the former things will not be remembered, nor come into mind.
