Theologians?

In Mark 3:22, they are called ‘scribes’ (KJV) or ‘teachers of the law’ (NIV). Matthew 12:24 calls them Pharisees. Luke 11:53 refers to both.

‘Scribes’ were Bible scholars who authoritatively interpreted and taught the Old Testament Scriptures and oral tradition. They could either be Pharisees or Sadducees. The biblical account says they were Pharisees and this is obvious from the fact that they believed Jesus had a demon. Sadducees did not believe in demons or angels (Acts 23:8).
