Cling to Him . . .

A life filled with pain and sorrow
Has been more than you can bear
Your struggles seem to never end
You are at the point of final despair

You’ve had so much distress in your life
Your pureness has been stripped away
You feel as though you are damaged goods
And that all hope has gone astray

Your joy has turned to anguish
Your afflictions have grieved your soul
You want to reach out to someone
But get threats if someone would know

You hide this pain inside of you
Hoping that some day it will disappear
The threats, the grief, the heartache
Your days you live in fear

But something happens one day
Someone special enters your heart
You gave your life to Jesus
It was time for a brand new start

He’d been there all along with you
He never left your side
You are the one who shut Him out
And thought that you could hide

You feel that if you cling to Him
Your trials are easier to bear
For now you know you have a friend
A friend who really does care

He’ll never fail you, never leave
He’s there until the end
He’ll always have a listening ear
He’ll always be a faithful friend

Sure, you’ve had friends who said they cared
Said they’d be there through bad times and good
But where’d they go when troubles came
They failed, but Jesus always stood

He’ll give you peace that’s everlasting
Jesus will always be by your side
Turn to Him with all your cares
Look to the Crucified
