We cannot avoid powerful feelings that are contrary to Gods truth even Jesus was tempted but we can repent of caving into the temptation to accept those feelings as truth. We can repent of being so carnal as to think that a mere feeling rather than Gods Word indicates spiritual truth. We can repent of thinking he must prove his love for us by giving us signs or feelings or assurances. It is insulting to God to want such proof as if he could lie or be unloving unless what he says is true matches our feelings or circumstances.
