Divine Intimacy

We need to be extremely wary of thinking ourselves more spiritual than someone else. When God means so much to us, we have a strong bias toward self-deception in that we can spiritualize our hang-ups and weaknesses. In other words, we can build up a very strong biblical argument supporting our stance and convince ourselves that we have divine approval for our actions when God doesnt approve at all but we are simply hoping to justify behavior that may be no more correct than our partners and might even be totally contrary to Gods ways.
