The Bible sometimes portrays the downtrodden have-nots as valleys and the exalted haves as mountains. This is why we find such Scriptures as: Isaiah 40:4-5 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low . . . And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. . . . Expressed less poetically: Luke 1:52-53 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. It is significant that these two Scriptures quoted refer to the Messiah. The great Leveler is indeed the Christ and it is upon his return that it will be manifested.
