Firstborn Animals


Exodus 13:12-13 that you shall set apart to the Lord all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal. The males shall be the LordÂ’s. Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and you shall redeem all the firstborn of man among your sons.

Exodus 34:19-20 All that opens the womb is mine; and all your livestock that is male, the firstborn of cow and sheep. You shall redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb. If you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. . . .

Numbers 18:15,17 But you shall not redeem the firstborn of a cow, or the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat. They are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and shall burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma to the Lord.

Deuteronomy 14:23 You shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place which he chooses, to cause his name to dwell there [the temple], the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.
