To Enter Into

In each case we are looking at the same Hebrew word (Strong’s Number 935)

Genesis 38:9 Onan knew that the offspring wouldn’t be his; and when he went in to his brother’s wife, he spilled it on the ground, lest he should give offspring to his brother.

One of many examples where this word means to enter into:

Genesis 6:18-19 But I will establish my covenant with you. You shall come into the ship, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. Of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ship, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.

Examples of the instances where the word is used to refer to sexual intercourse:

Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when God’s sons came in to men’s daughters and had children with them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Genesis 16:2 Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

Genesis 16:4 He went in to Hagar, and she conceived. When she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

Genesis 29:21 Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her.”

Genesis 30:4She gave him Bilhah her servant as wife, and Jacob went in to her.

Genesis 30:16 Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, “You must come in to me; for I have surely hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” He lay with her that night.

Genesis 38:18 He said, “What pledge will I give you?” She said, “Your signet and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand.” He gave them to her, and came in to her, and she conceived by him.

Deuteronomy 22:13 If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, hates her

Ezekiel 23:44 They went in to her, as they go in to a prostitute: so went they in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the lewd women.
