Beware2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. Luke 11:24-26 The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none, he says, I will turn back to my house from which I came out. When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes, and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries. Joshua 23:12-13 But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you; know for a certainty that the Lord your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the Lord your God has given you. Judges 2:1-3 . . . I said, I will never break my covenant with you. You shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You shall break down their altars. But you have not listened to my voice. . . . Therefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be [thorns] in your sides, and their gods will be a snare to you. Judges 2:20-23. 3:1,4 The Lords anger burned against Israel; and he said, Because this nation transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to my voice, I also will no longer drive out any of the nations that Joshua left when he died from before them; that by them I may test Israel, to see if they will keep the Lords way to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not. So the Lord left those nations, without driving them out hastily. He didnt deliver them into Joshuas hand. Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to test Israel by them, even as many as had not known all the wars of Canaan. . . They were left to test Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to the Lords commandments, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.
