Had I been able to publish it you would have been sharing in the experience of a friend of mine, who Ill call Jane. It is more than just someone elses experience. As you read these words, know that Jesus invitation is to you and me, as powerfully as it ever was to Jane.
This insight came to Jane as a genuine vision. So powerfully supernatural was the experience that even now, long afterward, it affects her profoundly whenever she recalls it. Whether you join me in believing that her spiritual adventure was beyond natural explanation is of no consequence, however. The critical, undeniable fact is that the truths it portrays Jesus tenderness, patience and passionate concern for you; his longing to be with you, transform you despite your past, exalt you, and enjoy never-ending devotion to you are rock-solid, time-proven, biblical truths. Moreover, the God of the Bible often describes the closeness he longs to enjoy with you as being like a perfect marriage, even though, of course, there should be no sexual element in our intimacy with God. These facts have been a sacred revelation from heaven, not just to Jane, but to all humanity for two thousand years.
Janes experience seems like wishful thinking because God himself has placed deep within you a yearning for endless intimacy with him. Our tragedy is that we have twisted this longing into a vain hope that a human relationship might achieve what only the divine can do. Only God is perfect. Only he fully understands. Only he is utterly trustworthy. Only he can satisfy.
Sadly, many of us have grossly misunderstood him and falsely accused him. But we cant stop him from loving us. He cares for you so deeply and understands your pain so much that he would take upon himself the brunt of your anger if that would help our healing.
As his invitation reaches you this very moment, please, please, dont let it pass you by. Do not reject him, breaking his heart, because you feel unworthy. He makes you worthy! Just say yes to him! Others may have exploited you, but he comes to give, not take. Others may have despised you. He comes to honor you. Others may have defiled you. He comes to make you pure; the spotless darling of his heart. Some will put you down. He will lift you high so high that only God can do it. He alone is worthy of your trust. No matter how unimaginable it may seem, you are the delight of his heart. He is wooing you, longing to win your affections. He yearns to be with you for all of eternity. Dont hold back.

Tentative First Date
Like Jane, many of us have had our trust violated and been deeply hurt by people acting contrary to Gods loving ways. Haunted by such experiences, we can find it almost incomprehensible that there really is a trustworthy God who loves us tenderly and with great devotion a God whose heart breaks for us when he sees us in pain. He understands our skepticism and our fears about him, and although the slightest delay pains him, he waits for you to gradually reach out to him and get to know him. He wants you so much that he would rather you get mad at him and falsely accuse him than ignore him.
The evil in this world assaults and infuriates us, and yet as incomprehensible as it might seem, it pains the God of all humanity even more than it hurts those of us who writhe in agony under the godless cruelty of others. Nevertheless, despite the enormous cost to him, the Almighty is so gentle and patient that he has tolerated all the God-defying acts of evil in this world, in the hope that each of us would come to our senses and change, before Judgment Day. But to discover how wonderful the Good Lord really is, and to find him before it is too late, we must begin with at least a tentative baby-step.
Lifes greatest adventure begins with an open dialog with a God you might not be sure even exists. Try something like this:
God, I wonder if youre even there. You have seemed cold, hard and aloof, relative to how you are portrayed in this vision. It seems beyond belief that you are really so gentle, compassionate and understanding not to mention the thought of you being passionately in love with me!
My mind whirls with doubts and questions. As Ive reeled in pain inflicted by people violating your will, have I lashed out at you in misdirected anger? You say in the Bible that your love for me soars beyond human comprehension. Well, theres certainly much about you that I dont comprehend!
Of course, Im not sinlessly perfect. Could it really be that the sin you long to cleanse from me has kept me so distant from you that I have tragically misunderstood you? Do you really love me so intimately that their anti-God actions have pained you as deeply as they did me? Has my ignorance of the complexities of running a universe based on love, not tyrannical force, caused me to slander you, the only truly innocent Person in my life?
It seems too good and too tragic to be true, but if you really do offer more than I dare hope for, I certainly dont want to miss out. Beginning with the webpages listed below, I am determined to leave no stone unturned in my quest to uncover the truth about you. If you really are a God of selfless love and goodness, open my eyes to your reality.
It would be improper for me act as if I were your God and you were my slave, putting demands as to how you should reveal yourself to me, but I ask that by the means of your choice, you reveal yourself to me, if you are really as wonderful as this webpage implies.
Help me stop running from you long enough to discover how beautiful you really are.
Perhaps that prayer is as far as you dare go at present. Wonderful Lord,
You have given yourself totally for me and I long to respond to your overwhelming love, by dedicating all I have to pleasing you.
Forsaking all others including those sins that entice and enslave me I take you to be my God from this day forward. Knowing that this day you have promised to love, honor and cherish me, I, in turn, promise to do my best to love, honor and obey you. I hand over my grubby sins, both those I hate and those I love giving them to you so that you can suffer for them instead of me suffering for them. It staggers me that you would do this. Your love is so deep, and mine is so shallow; you offer so much, and I can offer so little. Nevertheless, I give you my wrongdoing, and in exchange I receive your pardon, your sparkling purity and your power to live a life worthy of you. On the cross you gave your life for me. In return, I give my life to you. I give you my shame, and receive your honor. I give you my material possessions to use as you see fit, and in exchange I receive your inexhaustible riches. I give you my time, and in return you give me eternity.
I want to be like you. So as you now forgive me, though I have hurt you and dont deserve it, I want your help to forgive those who have hurt me and dont deserve my forgiveness.
Thank you that we have now commenced a union so unique and powerful that not even death can break it.
The Lord of heaven and earth knows your secret thoughts. If you prayed the entire prayer honestly, you have entered a new spiritual realm. Thats hard to believe. Everything seems the same. But not from heavens perspective. The spiritual contract is sealed.
The proof lies not in your feelings (such as whether you feel guilty or happy), but in the integrity of the Holy One. He has given his word (in the Bible) that whoever turns from sin and looks to Jesus for cleansing, has a radically new destiny. God is no liar!

How this Webpage Came About
Through Jesus, the peace that Jane has found with herself and with God, is so immense that it enabled her to enjoy the liberating and empowering experience of forgiving her abusers. Jane frolics in such freedom from the stranglehold of bitterness and resentment that she now wants to protect even the names of those who ill-treated her. So, although I would like to honor Jane by naming her, she decided against it for their sake. We could have eliminated all reference to her abuse, but our hearts and Gods heart go out to readers who have suffered like her. It is important that they know that they, too, are greatly loved and special to God.
